SD2 Help
For some reason I am un able to get my ketron sd2 to playback with BNB or powertracks 12. I am using Windows XP SP3, Dual Core AMD, 2 gigs of Ram. I have the SD2 hooked to my line in of my soundcard, and the midi to usb connection done.

In options, I have the usb audio divice selected as output driver, (with line6 UX1) Input drivers use the same selected drivers. I have unchecked the Re-route midi playback to default DXi/Vsti synth in BNB and PT12.

Using MS GS Wavetable plays back fine.....?

I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marty

ISOLATE to troubleshoot.

*Start a song playing back and check the blue LED on the SD2, it should be flashing when MIDI activity is received.

*Connect a set of headphones to the SD2's headphone jack while playback is happening and that LED is flashing, if you don't hear anything in the headphones make sure that the Volume slider on the SD2 is turned up all the way to the right.

*Using Line In of any soundcard for playback is good thing, but often one must visit the soundcard's software mixer applet and adjust the Line Input fader and turn muting off in order to hear signals introduced to the Line Input.

is this a separate 'midi to usb connection ' connection??? and it's configured as such in BNB or powertracks 12

are you getting any indication on the sd2 that it is receiving midi - manual says
'The LED will flash if there is any Midi In activity.'

why not connect the output ogf the sd2 to the line in of the line6 UX1

The blue light is "not" flashing. There is no sound coming through the headphone jack. The line in is active and at 100%, not muted. My midi/usb adaptor cable has a midi blue light and it does not flash either. The slider on the sd2 is at full volume.

Pghbomike, could you elaborate on a "seperate usb connection in PT and BNB. I hooked my line out from the ketron to line in of ux1 with no success.

just checking
===============
the midi in of the sd2 going to the midi out of your midi interface will allow the sd2 to receive and output midi data coming from your computer as audio

the midi out of the sd2 going to the midi in of your midi interface will allow recording of midi information from the sd2 to your computer
============================
midi interface config info

in pt & biab you need to tell the program what midi interface you are using and make sure the MS GS Wavetable is not selected

this is separate from the audio configuration

in biab crtl-p then click on midi driver
in pt ctrl-F5 press 6 for midi devices then D for midi devices

you can find patch maps for the sd2 here

SD2 has no MIDI out, the other MIDI plug is MIDI Thru.

You only need ONE MIDI connect to SD2 here, that would be the SD2 MIDI INput, connected to computer's MIDI OUTput.

No flashing blue LED on the SD2 means that there is no MIDI data being received.

This can happen with a bad physical connect (MIDI cable going to wrong place at either end) or not selecting the right MIDI output routing in the host software.

That blue LED should be steady state to indicate the unit is on and working properly when not receiving any MIDI data, BTW. The wallwart is necessary for the SD2 to provide power.

*Are you using a different USB device than your sound device to attach the SD2 to the computer?

If you are using the Edirol Midi Interface between the Computer and the Ketron then there is one LED light on the Interface which continually flickers to indicate a live connection to the computer and, when Midi is being played, a second LED flashes to indicate data transfer. You need to select the Edirol Driver in the MIDI Driver Panel. When up and working, I have found the Ketron SD2 to be be extremely reliable.
