Just wondering what people use of a notation program when they need a little more. It also seems Notion 3 is bundled with a lot of orchestral sounds.
Does anyone have any pros & cons about Notion, or other notation programs that one
should consider?
Finally, I have found a cool signature with sufficiently dry humor.

Sibelius 6 is the best. $600. Depends on what you want to do. If you want to make $$$$ doing scores it's the way to go. BIAB is great for most notation.

I don't know about Notion 3, I've been a happy Sibelius user for a few years now, before that I used Finale.
There is a shareware program called Noteworthy Composer that many around here love and it won't break the bank. Websearch for it.
Don't know about built in MIDI synth, though.

I have a HS band director friend who swears by Sibelius. Way out of my lead-sheet league.

Have a look at Harmony Assistant before you decide. I can't compare it to other packages as I haven't used any, but it seems quite functional and the support forum is helpful.

My question is, what would you be using it for? Do you want to write full multi-layered arrangements? Do you want to chart a single part. Or do you want to take a part that was written by a music software like BIAB or Jammer and add some nuance to it?

Seems to be geared towards playback and promoting itself as a notation bridge for a DAW program. I would not say that the music printing capabilities are anywhere near Sibelius (or even Finale). It offers rewire both as master and slave and can be used with any vst instrument set and also comes with 10GB of good quality samples. However Sibeliuus is equipped with a set of good quality sounds and can also be configured to work with any vst instruments. It is much cheaper than Sibelius but I don't really think it seriously challenges on any front at the moment. My advice would be to put in the extra cash and go for Sibelius.
