While entering lyrics in the Notation window some of the hot keys are activated when I enter that letter. Example, entering an R sets of a recording response. Other times letters aren't entered at all. These occurrences happened when I was entering lyrics halfway through the song. Up to that point every entry was problem free. Is there a way to deactivate the hot keys or is this some other problem? Thankyou

Make certain that the Lyrics window is "in focus" and not the one behind it, that might be it, or it might be a bug, too.
What VERSION of RB are you currently using when you experience this? That is important information considering the new release.

I know this doesn't answer your question however I've never cared for the lyric entry feature. In RB I use the comments window for lyrics. If I need them just hit the comments button and there they are. For playing I have them open and minimized to cover a portion of the left side of the screen. The chord sheet covers the tracks except the first two were I can view the drums and solos.

Mac, I am using RB 2008.5 I think the window was out of focus halfway through my entries, Thanks.
Silvertones, Great idea, I think I'll try that. Lyric entry is soooooo time consuming.

I have found over the years that the very last thing I want in front of my face when recording -- is the computer monitor screen.
The view of the transport churning away, the time clock ticking, all that sort of thing takes my mind away from the most important part of recording -- the performance.
So if I have to use a lyrics sheet, I print it out on paper.
Put it on a music stand that makes me have to at least turn away from the computer screen if not step into the "vocal booth" --which is now the closet of the apartment bedroom that has become my "studio".
*With paper lyrics, I can do "markups" -- using the pencil to give me clues and reminders during the performance, breath marks, accents, syllablic divisions, whatever.
*The same applies to any notation sheets or chord sheets when playing an instrument for the recording and not singing.
*Concentrating on what is on the paper -- and not the other stuff on the computer screen - has consistently turned in better performance for both myself and others who come here looking to get something in the can.
*Quite often I can get a paper printout without having to type or retype lyrics due to the wonderfulness of the web search engines. I just highlight the html page of lyrics and hit Print Selection. If the target song is a cover tune, of course. Be careful -- not all the webpublished lyrics are entirely correct, though. Excuse me while I kiss this guy...
*The onscreen lyrics can come in handy when using the program in Live Performance situations, though. However, I still do the "workup" and practicing for the show using the paper sheet first, for all of the reasons given. Once the Performance is rehearsed out a few times or more like that, the use of the onscreen lyrics becomes more of a crutch for memory than anything else. I do strive to try to memorize any song I perform "out" though. Makes a huge difference in delivery when I do that as versus reading my way through a song I don't really know deep down in my heart when in front of my audience. We can't always do that all the time, though it is my endeavor to keep such at a miminum.

That's my screen for live playing. I have about 150 songs and counting. I don't play the sort of places were a set "show" of 40 songs is all you need. I tried that and was embarrassed more then I would like. I now strive to be able to answer yes to this question, " Do you know such and such song" the more songs I have the better the chance. I could never remember all those songs. Not at 60 anyways. And being the bass player it's imperative that I also don't fumble around. So it's reference for me. It's sort of off to one side. I have a core set that I do know and as time goes by I do remember more and more. I used to play 5 nights a week in a country band and we never repeated a song during those 5 nights. That was tough.

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums).
