One of my all time faves - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cadbYIzhqQMediterranean Sundance I enjoy that interplay, look at the eye contact.. lots of versions out there. Not necessarily the best one I've heard. Hearing them live was, of course, the best version.

LOL The FM Im talking about is the one from the 60,s.But its all about preference and you obviously arent a great fan of PG.But how about this from Wikipedia and a comment from BB KIng himself.
Peter Green (born Peter Allen Greenbaum, 29 October 1946, in Bethnal Green, London) is a British blues-rock guitarist and founder of the band Fleetwood Mac.
A major figure and bandleader in the "second great epoch"[1] of the British blues movement, Green inspired B. B. King to say, "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats." [2] [3] Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page have both lauded his guitar playing as well. Green's playing was marked with "idiomatic string bending and vibrato[1] and economy of style. Though he played other guitars, he is best known for deriving a unique tone from his 1959 Gibson Les Paul. [3] [4]

tributeman, OK, if he gave BB King the cold sweats, then I guess I need to give him a second listen. Do you have any good links? I'm open minded. BB was one of the few artists like Billy Gibbons. He could say a lot with just a few notes. It wasn't and isn't about technical prowess. Bob

John, I do subtract several points for open tuning. Aka, cheating. LOL Bob PS. I can open tune ANY stringed instrument and make music on it. Doesn't mean I can play it.

John, When I was teaching my son to play guitar, he wanted to experiment with open tunings. I wouldn't let him. I told him after he actually learned to play guitar in standard tuning, then he could learn to "cheat". I'm happy to say he never learned to "cheat". I can appreciate the things these guys do in open tuning. But I always wonder, can you actually play guitar? Bob PS. Some stringed instruments are MEANT to be open tuned. Banjo, dobro and dulcimer. These don't count.

As soon as you said Fleetwood Mac, you lost me. I figured since he was the guitarist you love, you had some bookmarked. Guess not.
Just curious, does he use open tunings? If he does, then you have to strike him off the "guitarists" list and categorize him as "other". If he can't play guitar in standard tuning, then he can't play guitar. He play's something else.

He accidently got the pickups reversed when he reassembled it.
Because he didn't no any better.
Bridge pup where neck pup should be, and vice verse.
That's not to detract from his compendium of work, though.

There are so *many* great guitarists, we live in fantastic times, there is also the genre factor to consider. I like many different genres of playing, others specialize. Nuthin' wrong with either AFAIC. Over the years I've transcribed basically one cat's style at a time, working towards taking something away with me that I might be able to make my own. Along the way, I've found out that listening to other styles and genres can translate to something neat in your own favorite genre, many times. I also like finding the younger talents, of which we are blessed with so many nowadays. Here's one who deserves a listen, playing live here at age 17: Ricky Paquette It ain't the tune, which is a cover of an SRV thang, that stands out about this guy, IMO it is the totally clean *articulation* and timing skills he shows. By "timing" here, I'm referring to the miniscule amounts of time between fret hand and plectrum hand, not the tempo or meter thang, which must be mastered well before even thinking about this type of timing issue. Incidentally, he's playing the "dropped tuning" -- or as it was known years back on the Chitlin' Circuit, the bros used to call it "slack key" tuning, not to be convused with Hawaiian slack key, but just like Jimi and Stevie Ray, the kid has tuned down one half step. Guitar in Eb. A "proper" rendition of the SRV tune that way. Quote:

Of course, every musician should also view this thing properly.
Music as a contact sport.

"I need more practice..."
or,
"Jeez, anybody want a good deal on a slightly used axe?"

I think the youtube links should be good enough for you to check him out if as you say you might give him a second look it appears to be used quite a lot here to point to other guitarists.I also think youve missed the thrust of my post which was a "personal" view of mine regarding the guitarist who as BB King stated so eloquently gave him cold sweats.You seem to only recognise the "technicality" of a guitar player which for me anyhow is a very cold analysis of what guitar playing is all about.. still everyone to his own thing .Frankie
