I am a bit confused about what is possible with BIAB and Real Band. Since the two programs ship together, I thought they would be compatible. I am getting the impression they are not.
What I want to do is start tracks in BIAB, tweak them or add some parts in Real Band (it seems easier), save them and use them in the BIAB Juke Box. Is this possible? Is there a workaround?
I am also going to post this in the Real Band forum to increase my odds of an answer.
Thanks.

The best answer for you is to watch the tutorials and read the manual. Answers to your questions will require an awful long post. Later, Ray

Simple answer, No and Yes. However the workaround is not really something you would find usable/functional once back in BIAB.
The functioning of BIAB and RB is all about workflow. You have to discover what it can do based on what you really need. As you discover what it can do, you then adjust what you really need to end up at a point where you learn ways of achieveing what you can do.
More simply put, BIAB is an auto accompianment program and RB is a sequencer. I use them seperatley each for its intended purpose. the fact that they interact at all is simply a plus.
BIAB – 2026, Reaper (current), i7-12700F Processor, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, Motu Audio Express 6x6 - My SoundCloud.

RealBand cannot save songs in the BiaB .sgu/.mgu format.
However, one can export a finished RealBand work as a .wav or .wma or .mp3 format stereo file and then use BiaB to play that back via the jukebox by simply naming a new song that is the exact same name as the saved audio file and putting both into the same BiaB folder. When that blank songfile is loaded, BiaB will also load the audio file of the same name into the lone BiaB Audio Track and it will play it.
Exporting MIDI will also work, as a standard MIDI file. For notation, you could load the standard MIDI file into the BiaB Sequencer on the Melody track.
You could even load BOTH, such that you have notation plus the audio track, but you can't change Tempo inside BiaB because the Audio can't change tempo.

Thanks, Mac. I am not familiar with everything you were talking about, but I get the idea.
I don't understand why PG Music sells these programs together when they are not fully compatible. Their software is a good value, just seems they would have made them work together easier.
Anyway, thanks again.

The answer lies in pgmusic trying to fulfill the many wishlist requests, I think.
But the two programs really are complementary.
BiaB is first and foremost an Autoaccompaniment software.
RB is first and foremost a Multitrack Sequencing program.
While they cross in certain ways, duplicating *every* way would mean that both programs would be identical, thus one would be superfluous.
It takes time and practice with these excellent programs in order to understand things and bring out the best.
Important part of the above statement is that you should always endeavor to "have fun" with these things while working with them and learning what can be done. In other words, try to avoid frustration by doing just a little bit each day.
These two programs are much like learning two new musical instruments.

Just read the two updates.
Mac, you are right that it takes time and should be fun. I am having a great time with BIAB.
Silvertones, it's funny that you say the jukebox in Real Band is the same. I called PG Music and was told that there is not a jukebox in Real Band. So before I sent this post, I went to Real Band and looked for it. There is a Jukebox function under Action. Is that what you are talking about?
If so, seems I could open a BIAB file in Real Band; tweak it, save it with the .JUK extension and it would go on the Play List. Do I basically understand it correctly?
Thanks to both of you.

Well, that pretty much sums it up right there.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
