RealTracks Artist Bio: Michael White
For over fifteen years, Michael White has been a touring and session drummer with some of the biggest names in R&B, Soul, & Funk, and he is now also branching out, creating his own music as well. Michael was born and raised in Chicago, and began playing drums at the tender age of four. The music of the city was his inspiration, with musicians such as Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, and Elvin Joes providing the backdrop for his musical education. He received several scholarships, including one to the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where he expanded his musical knowledge to include composition, mallet instruments, and piano, while at the same time, honing his skills as a master drummer. As his reputation grew, he began recording and performing with the likes of The Dells, Curtis Mayfield, The Impressions, and Jerry Butler.
In 1982, Michael moved to LA, where his career took off even more. Since that time, he has recorded and/or shared the stage with the likes of Earth Wind & Fire, The Commodores, Horace Silver, Al Jarraeu, Whitney Houston, Steely Dan, and countless other stars.
