April 29, 2014 User Showcase Song - HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL-Collab-Ian (sixchannel) with Aleck Rand

This tune is a bit of an Oddity. As originally written for the German Highland Games it is a basic major/minor chord pleasant tune. However, having heard the version played by a Scottish Bagpipe Band I wanted to work on it in BIAB as a full Orchestration. That's when my lack of musical knowledge showed up! I turned to our good BB friend Dean Clark aka Aleck Rand (or is it the other way round? lol) for help. Not only did he sort out the chords for me but even sorted out the arrangement in BB. Above and beyond the call of duty, Dean.
The snares were added (to replicate the Bagpipe massed drummers) and also the Church Organ (2 tracks). Everything, apart from the Snares and RealDrums track is BIAB midi. What a Stunning piece of software this is.
I added the Lead guitar and mixed it down.

April 28, 2014 User Showcase - Point in Time

Here is a new song called Point in Time. The different tempos of the song represent the past, the present and the future. The slow parts I used a BIAB drum track to keep time then silenced. The second faster part is:

1681 Guitar 12String Acoustic
362 Guitar Acoustic Strumming.

Song was finished in RealBand. Struggled with the mixing..
This song was my first attempt to use two different tempos.

April 24, 2014 Anyone for a bit o' good news?

I sent five original BIAB guitar tunes to Nina Gerber, Kate Wolf's guitarist of 14 years. Nina picked two for future album projects.

One was "Joanne's Smile" that I did for our very own Joanne Cooper (aka Josie C) and the other was "Ottawa Is Blue (Tonight)" which I did for the late BIABer/Songwriter, Ian Fraser.

I'll be so happy if Nina plays my tunes or adds them to a future album.

Color me beside myself but please try to stay within the lines.

Years ago, I lived south of Philly.
(Jersey, actually, but don't admit that).
Music related trips to north of the city involved the Lindenwold High Speed Line, the Philadelphia subway and buses.
It's how you get around in the city.
On one particular trip, during a garbage strike, I watched a young couple on a bus pointing out things to each other.
Wide-eyed, whispering to each other, omg look at that!, checking the schedule...
I decided to document the trip...

April 22, 2014 Quick way to mute an instrument, for, say, 30 consecutive bars?

Sorry for this newbie question. I wish to mute the Strings part of my song from the start of bar 1 through to the end of bar 32. I know the long way to do it, bar by bar, e.g.

--select bar 1,
--go to Chord Options,
--for Rest Type, select Rest Only,
--of the "All except" radio button choices, select Bass, Drums, Piano and Guitar (that is, all except the Strings).
-- repeat for bars 2-32.

That last step is what gets me -- seems awfully repetitive. Is there not a quicker way to specify the bar range over which this instrument will be mute?

April 10, 2014 Why use BB instead of RealBand for new songs?

This is an absolute Novice RB question.
I have been using BIAB for quite a while and my workflow has always been to export all tracks in BIAB as wavs to my old DAW (Cakewalk GTPro2 from 2004)and mix and mess with it in there.
Despite it always having been there I have avoided RB apart from the odd foray into it.
BUT - I think I MUST get to know it and use it. Having messed with it a bit and got to grips with the fact that things aren't where they are in BIAB I created a chord sequence, a style etc etc and it made me wonder -
WHY do we need BIAB at all if everything can be done in RB that can be done in BIAB?
Its not a trick question.

April 09, 2014 Looking for a straight up country stomp beat

Looking for a straight up country stomp beat and I am not even sure if I described that correctly. basically I heard a song that had a simple but powerful strong drum hit on every beat in 4/4 and the song started out with just the drumbeat and then added a rolling banjo and it was just delightful!

I spent about an hour today sampling RealDrums and found some great ones but could not find anything like this. Any ideas?

Just love the versatility of BiaB!
This year Norway is celebrating the 200 years anniversary for the constitution of 1814, and I was asked to make a "simple" song for the children in my region, a song to sing on the national day. So what…
…well, I opened BiaB and went looking for a "celebrating" style, and ended up with this:
200 år / 200 years
Definitly not traditional norwegian music – but with so much musical joy and fun!
And living in times of conflicts and tense – as many of you, I have people from conflict-areas from many parts of the world living in my neighborhood – is there any better way to celebrate freedom and life, than with the joyful music from New Orleans?

April 07, 2014 ***Moving to External Drive***

I just purchased a 2TB External drive to get most of the songs and junk off of my C: drive. I need to know which parts of the programs (BIAB 2012 and RB)must remain on the C: drive and what I can move to my external. Also, what paths would I have to change for the program to be able to locate my songs. I am a bit of a techno-phobe, so I thank you all for your indulgence. I am also using Sonar,---should I create different folders for each program? Thank you in advance!

This is my first song on the forum, but I've played on songs for other people as part of ROG's team. I'm playing all the guitars, but I don't sing, so ROG, Jessie and Courtney are doing all the vocals. The sax is an RT from ROG's BiaB. The US place names sound so much better to us than the British ones, even though we just took them from Google maps...

April 02, 2014 Wildwood Flower (vocal synthesis)

Here's another demo of my synSinger program singing the first verse of "Wildwood Flower", a traditional folk song. (I'm not sure people could take several verses of the synthetic voice wink ).
The lyrics were entered into BiaB, and the Sound.XML file that was generated for Sinsy was used to create a .wav file, which was loaded back into BiaB.
Backing tracks are the Country Brent Solo Guitar and an added String Quartet track. It's all done in BiaB without any real correction, so it can be heard warts and all.
As usual, comments are welcome!
