RealTracks Artist Bio: Andy Wood

In his early years, Andy Wood's musical journey began with the mandolin, earning him recognition in bluegrass festivals and securing multiple state championship titles. At the age of sixteen, he showcased his talent by claiming the runner-up position in the World Championship Mandolin Contest.

Transitioning to the electric guitar a few years later, Andy delved into the intricate styles of Nashville session players such as Brent Mason and Albert Lee. Later he drew inspiration from guitar virtuosos like The Dixie Dregs, Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai before crafting a unique sound of his own.

At 22, Andy's prowess on the guitar won him Guitar Center's competition, Guitarmaggedon. Shortly thereafter, Andy became the founding member of the rock band Down From Up, which toured and released several albums before disbanding. Since then, Andy has toured professionally with a diverse array of artists, including Gary Allan, LOCASH, Rascal Flatts, Scott Stapp, and Sebastian Bach. Seeking other creative avenues, Andy has also released several solo albums.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Andy is a valuable resource for aspiring musicians, offering a wealth of knowledge through an extensive collection of video tutorials. These tutorials not only delve into various playing styles but also offer valuable insights and advice on gear.
