July 29, 2015 User Showcase Song - The Lighthouse Keeper

Hello forum friends. I have always loved water, particularly the ocean. I particularly love the northern California coast-many parts are absolutely beautiful. For Spring break of '14, my Family and I stayed in Point Arena in Mendocino county. That was the trip during which I wrote the lyrics to Real Good Time. We stayed at a place about 2 miles from the Point Arena lighthouse which is featured in the film FOREVER YOUNG with Mel Gibson, and NEED FOR SPEED. The latter was playing in the theater 50 miles north of there and we watched it during the trip. That was a cool experience to come back there after the film and connect the lighthouse to the climactic scene of the film (the film is very so-so). We also took the tour of the lighthouse and heard about the duties of the keepers. I was always intrigued by lighthouses, beacons in the night maintained by solitary men. It was this intrigue that motivated me to write this song. Hope you enjoy it! Comments much encouraged. Take care. Greg

There is a Band-in-a-Box (Coyote WaveTable) update for Windows 10 available (July 20 2015):
Coyote WaveTable Update

This patch addresses a Windows 10 compatibility issue with the Coyote Wavetable DXi syth (MIDI sounds in Band-in-a-Box).

This is intended for Band-in-a-Box 2014 and earlier users; Band-in-a-Box 2015 users do not need to install this update, the fix is already included in the most recent 2015 updates.

July 09, 2015 User Showcase Song - Lady Mysterious

It's our second collaboration with South African songwriter Paddy Gobel, and I'm very proud of this one.
Although it may not sound like it, this definitely also is BIAB, but with a little help of two VSTI synths.
The 80s synthpop style has always been one of my favorites, so is the era, both musically and lyrically.
In an attempt to create the definite retro song I experimented with completely different styles, soloists and drums. The soloists used here is a Jazz (!) soloist, which works surprisingly good in the song.
I doubled my vocals, slightly to get that 'thick' 80s sound. Anne-Marie's vocal contribution has a completely different angle this time, and enhances the 80s feel even more. It may remind you of songs of Laurie Anderson and the Human League.
Paddy's lyrics give the song the nostalgic feeling, it needed.
The video was constructed of public domain material and edited in MoviePlus X5.

Band-in-a-Box 2014 and higher for Windows work with the Fretlight Guitar!

Using the program with this light-up guitar is really easy - just connect the guitar to your computer via USB before you open Band-in-a-Box.

July 06, 2015 User Showcase Song - Brother Rhino

As a general rule I try not to get preachy in any of my songs. I threw that rule out the window when Joanne Cooper approached me to participate in an upcoming project for the Rhinose Foundation. My wife and I spend most of our free time outdoors and care deeply about the environment, so this was an easy assignment to accept. Thank You Joanne for your continued activism. It is meaningful and important.

July 03, 2015 Audio Track Available in Band-in-a-Box 2015 for Mac

An Audio Track has been added to version 2015 of Band-in-a-Box for MAC.

With this new feature, you can:
- Import an audio file (WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, etc.) to the Audio track.
- Record a vocal or an instrument to the Audio track.
- Render your song to the Audio Track.

We've also added an Audio Edit Window that shows the digital waveform for the Audio track. In this window, you can easily select, play, and edit the audio.
